After a restful end of term break, Year 5 have begun our new topic on Space and the solar system.
During a very bust immersion day, we used fruit to create a scaled model of our solar system - measuring the relative distance from the sun. That half a current in the foreground, and if you look carefully, you can see a watermelon representing Jupiter.
We began to explore our cosmic neighbourhood with a variety of hands on, fun activities and even turned ourselves into astronauts in an art lesson.
We have also been lucky enough to have the opportunity to extract DNA from a banana this week in one of the messiest experiments we have done in a while. A fantastic start to the term and we are eagerly looking forward to our class trip to Harry Potter world very soon.
