Well, what a delightful start to the Summer term I have had at Barnack. I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank the children, staff and parents for the most sincere and warmest welcome…I feel like one of the family already!
We have powered into the term with a clear goal…to make this the most hard-working yet! The children have, thus far, risen to this challenge and shown themselves to be responsible, conscientious and industrious learners.
Our Great Fire of London topic has sparked some fascinating discussions and each lesson we are excited to discover more interesting facts about this time in History.
In Science, we are uncovering what makes materials, “fit for purpose”. We will explore thought provoking questions such as, 'Have you ever wanted to read a book in the rain?' The children have decided that our aspirational accelerated reader word target should be 2 million! So, to get there we need to be reading EVERYWHERE! There will be an exciting Science project coming home linked to this. I am very much looking forward to seeing the results.
Our Maths learning has been based around all sorts of measures and I have been blown away by the children's knowledge, particularly with money…we all agreed we quite liked it! I am so very proud of what we have accomplished so far and have no doubt we will continue to go from strength to strength and enjoy a fabulous summer term together!
